The bridge in the Borough of Sharpsville, Mercer County that carries State Route 3018 over the Shenango River would be the Sergeant David Wallace III “Walleye” Memorial Bridge.
The designation would be effective in 60 days.
History
Sergeant Wallace was a Combat Engineer with the 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, of the United States Marine Corps, who was awarded during his service the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal Award.
He valiantly gave his life in the line of duty on January 27, 2009, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
