Stout, White Announce $210 Cecil Twp. Recreation Grant
HARRISBURG, January 20, 2010 - - State Sen. J. Barry Stout and state Rep. Jesse White today announced a $210,000 state recreation grant for Cecil Township in Washington County.
The grant will be used to acquire 26 acres of property along Klinger Road which the township plans to develop into a recreation campus. The project will also provide a long-awaited connection to the Montour Trail.
“I am very pleased that we were able to dedicate state funding to this worthwhile recreation project,” Stout said. “I have always fought for and will continue to support projects that enhance our recreation and give our citizens a place and reason to enjoy our beautiful landscape in Washington County.”
“During these tough economic times, it is important to continue to provide local governments with support for projects and our citizens with opportunities to enjoy recreational activities,” White said. “The Montour Trail is a wonderful outlet for exercise and recreation and I am pleased this project will continue to connect local residents to it.”
The grant is part of the Community Conservation Partnerships Program (CCPP) and is administered by the Department of Natural Resources. The CCPP program provides financial and technical assistance to local governments, river and trail organizations, land trusts, and other nonprofits for the planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenways projects.
