Stout: Program Offers Opportunity to Pay Up on Back Taxes
HARRISBURG, April 21, 2010 - - State Sen. J. Barry Stout today announced that the PA Department of Revenue will waive 100 percent of the penalties and half of the interest for Pennsylvania residents who pay their delinquent state taxes during the PA Tax Amnesty Program.
The program will run from April 26 until June 18.
“This is a great opportunity for our neighbors that have fallen behind on their state taxes to pay up and save themselves additional money from penalties and interest incurred,” Stout said. “This is only the second time in Pennsylvania history that a tax amnesty program is being offered and I strongly encourage anyone who has yet to pay their taxes to take advantage of it.”
The program is available to all individuals, businesses and other entities with PA tax delinquencies as of June 30, 2009. To participate in the program, eligible persons must apply for Tax Amnesty online at www.PATaxPayUp.com, no paper applications will be accepted.
After the Tax Amnesty Program ends on June 18, eligible individuals who do not settle back takes will have a 5 percent non-participation penalty added to delinquencies and may face other enforcement actions.
