HARRISBURG, March 19, 2008 - - State Sen. J. Barry Stout (D-Washington/Greene) and state Rep. Ted Harhai (D-Fayette/Westmoreland) today presented $300,000 in grants for legislative initiatives in Monessen.
“It is great to infuse the local economy with state grants to help improve our district,” Stout said. “All of these projects are essential to the development and growth of the city of Monessen.”
Stout and Harhai presented checks for the following projects:

City of Monessen

$25,000 for computers for city offices and street department equipment

$25,000 for security cameras for city parks

$150,000 for paving of Grand Boulevard.

$25,000 for Jefferson Drive Sewage Project

Greater Monessen Historical Society - $15,000 for Monessen Heritage Museum

Monessen Food Pantry - $10,000 for equipment

Monessen Community Development Corporation - $20,000 for building renovations

Monessen Public Library - $15,000 for roof repairs

Monessen School District - $15,000 for air conditioning at Elementary Center
"Senator Stout and I are very happy to be able to secure state grant funding for these worthwhile projects in Monessen," Harhai said. "I will always work to ensure that every municipality in the 58th Legislative District receives grant opportunities."
The grants were obtained through negotiations during the past two legislative budgets.
