HARRISBURG, January 7, 2008 - - State Sen. J. Barry Stout (D- Washington/Greene) today said that Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) fees for those drivers who hold a hazardous materials (HAZMAT) endorsement has been increased by $2.
The fee increase is due to the Federal Government raising the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) fingerprint fee from $24 to $26.
“The small fee increase is intended to help the FBI’s fingerprinting capabilities and ensure that hazardous materials are transported securely,” Stout said.
Stout said this fee increase affects commercial drivers who hold HAZMAT endorsement and are required to successfully complete a Federal Security Threat Assessment at the time of license application or renewal.
The total cost of the Federal Security Threat Assessment will now be $60 ($26 fingerprint fee and $34 federal criminal history background check).
This fee is in addition to the CDL with HAZMAT endorsement renewal fee, which is $76.
