HARRISBURG, August 25, 2005 - State Sen. J. Barry Stout and Rep.
Timothy Solobay today announced that the Department of Conservation
and Natural Resources (DCNR) has awarded North Strabane Township,
Washington County, with a $16,000 grant to prepare a comprehensive
recreation, parks, and open space plan.
“As Washington County grows, it’s important for municipalities to
develop strategies for preserving green space and provide
recreational facilities for all of the new families moving in,” said
Stout (D-Washington/Greene/Allegheny/Beaver/Westmoreland). “This
grant will help North Strabane Township effectively plan for its
future.”
DCNR’s Bureau of Recreation and Conservation administers the
Community Conservation Partnership Program to provide financial and
technical assistance to local governments and organizations for the
planning, acquisition, and development of park, recreation,
conservation, and greenways projects. The Keystone Recreation, Park,
and Conservation Act Fund and the Environmental Stewardship Act Fund
provide funding for the grants.
